Team Background

Mission

The Colorado Wolverines will provide a professional grappling team to Colorado. We will give young jiu jitsu, judo, wrestling, and sambo practitioners a group of athletes whom they can emulate. The Wolverines will showcase the grit of the people of the Centennial state. The Wolverines will provide excellent opportunities for Coloradans to cheer for submission grapplers in competition, but at the same time provide opportunities to learn high-level grappling skills. Most importantly, the Colorado Wolverines will be a symbol for Coloradans to rally around as a catalyst for community amongst practitioners and grappling fans alike. TJ Steinbach Lead Business Strategist

Full Bio

TJ Steinbach was basically raised in the gym. In Middle School, TJ started Boxing, Kickboxing and Wrestling (25 years+). This developed into him later earning three MMA titles (6-1 record). Due to an injury, TJ’s MMA career ended.

TJ then focused on Jiu Jitsu/Grappling. Back in high school, TJ was a state finalist wrestler and made the Arizona Daily Star’s First Team: All Southern Arizona’s Wrestling Team. His wrestling skills transferred to his grappling career. He has since made the USA Grappling Team 4x and has competed all over the world.

TJ was a part of the first and second USA Grappling Team to win the UWW World Title (2022 & 2023). This is in addition to being a multiple time state champion and national champion in BJJ.

TJ was on the (PGF) Professional Grappling League TV show (Season 4), and he was a part of the first-place team for the show. He was one the few people who was never submitted during that season and just missed the finale due by just a couple of points.

Later in 2023 while competing for the USA Grappling Team TJ won two UWW World Championships (Gi & Nogi) in Astana, Kazakhstan. Also in 2023, TJ was inducted to United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame – BJJ Athlete of the Year.
